Hello, mon! I`m Calypso, a lovely lady member of the stunningly beautiful Moluccan, or Salmon-Crested, Cockatoo species. We`re also highly intelligent, even for parrots, or so I`m told...you can judge for yourself, though. I`m about 22 years old, pretty young for a girl who can live to a ripe old age of 65 or more. I`ve lived with my family since 1989, but they no longer have enough time to give me all the love and attention I need, so Mickaboo is working on finding me a new forever home! My usual diet consists of veggies and fruit, safflower seed, and Zupreem pellets, but some of my favorite foods are grapes, bananas, oranges, and the occasional spicy jalapeno! My wings have been kept clipped by my mom, and I love to step up on her hand and go out on the back deck in my outdoor cage to catch some rays. I`m somewhat reserved when it comes to speaking up, but I will sometimes say "pretty bird" just to see if you agree--okay, so I`m a little vain, I admit it. I`ll bet you would be too, if you looked like me! I tend to speak my own language a bit in the late evening, but if my mom closes the door to my room, I know that means it`s time to settle down and get my beauty sleep. I`m a very sweet and loving lady, and I`ve only bit a human once in my life, when I was really scared and my instincts for self-preservation kicked in. But I`ve never repeated that lapse of manners, and I`m verrry snuggly and love to cuddle up to your neck and have my head scratched. I guess I have a bit of a mothering side, because I`ve been laying about one egg each winter for some time, but maybe I just need more activities, games, and snuggle-time to occupy me. Strange new things and environments can make me nervous, but if you`re kind and reassuring, I`m sure I`ll adjust to a new home and family. I just know you`d love to have me join yours, wouldn`t you?
