UPDATE: We hope no one out there thinks that this pretty little girl`s name means she`s growly! Sweet Leona is the gentlest of fluffy yellow cockatiels. She loves head rubs so much, she`ll happily sit on a human perch as long as they will skritch her head. She has a teensy little aversion (well, make it a total aversion) to actually leaving her cage, but once she`s out, she`s "as sweet as candy" (according to her foster mom). Leona has an exposed air sac on her shoulder and a tendency to arthritis because of having lived in a cage with inadequate perches. So she must be handled gently, but is otherwise in good health.
Hi, my name is panthera Leona, the yellow lion. I`m very brave most of the time, and I`m prepared to face the world. I used to have a nice home of my own, but my wings were left to grow out a little, and that`s all it took. I must have flown quickly away from home, and then couldn`t find my way back. We birds will do that, sometimes, without thinking about how much we love our home. Then we`re lost and left to find a safe place. I`m lucky, some kind soul took me to a shelter and Mickaboo found me there. I`m a little nervous from all of the scary things I`ve seen, so I could use some quiet time and a nice safe home. In a nice safe place, I`m ready to go back to being a brave little yellow lion!
