Bird ID: 6862
Species: Cockatiel
Sex: Male
Sub-Species: Normal Grey
Adopted on 2021-05-12
Toby is a handsome over 20 year (approx. 25) normal grey cockatiel who was taken in by a couple after his owner became ill and could no longer care for Toby. The couple took care of him but were moving and could not take Toby with him. He came to us with another cockatiel (Rio) but they are not bonded together and can be adopted separately. Toby loves to chatter and say Peekaboo. He was very timid at first but will warm up to you and stay on your shoulder to hang out while you watch TV or work on your laptop. He was an on an all seed diet but is getting used to pellets/nutrian cakes and fresh veggies. He is a sweet older birdie who would love to have a nice home to enjoy his golden years. He will reward you with the cutest chatter and companionship. Please reach out to the species coordinator to find out more about Toby.
In nature, cockatiels live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single cockatiel to a household if there is already at least one cockatiel living there. Otherwise, cockatiels must be adopted in groups of two or more.
