Hi, I am Luxa, a pretty little girl who came to Mickaboo from the Santa Cruz shelter in February 2021. I have a beautiful pale yellow body with a blue belly. I`m pretty petite and possibly quite young (it`s typically a guessing game with budgies like me!). I am curious and happy with human interaction through the cage. I enjoy music and get very active when my foster home is loud and lively.
I love my swing and flying around the double flight cage with my foster buddy Huevo (https://mickaboo.org/asm3/animal?id=6864) shown here with me. Aren`t we cute? I`m not unhealthily fat, by the way, I just gets puffed up when the camera comes out! With a little patience and the right environment, I could likely be a tame little girl. Maybe in your forever home?
Check out my feature in Mickaboo`s May 2021 virtual adoption fair at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrcLTfm70Mo. Note: I am not bonded with Hueva, we can be adopted separately.
In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
