I`m Nicki, a 28-year-old, affectionate, bare-eyed cockatoo in need of a new home. My owner loved me but developed health issues and could no longer care for me. I like to hang out on my human and get head scritches. I stopped eating when I was at the vet. I much prefer a home environment to a hospital environment, don`t you? After 2 days at my foster home, I`m eating Nutri-Berries, Harrison`s pellets, dandelion leaves, broccoli and apple. I am flat-footed and don`t perch in the usual way because I have gout. I don`t care to be medicated although that medication must be working wonders because I`m healthy enough now that I jump on my foster mom`s bed and hightail it out of there when I see she`s holding the medicine! Although I`ve proven that I`m not that disabled, I would need to be with someone who could take me in for vet visits as necessary. My gout medicine is expected to be lifelong and is now given to me twice a day.
