This is a Free Bird Care Class for everyone! This class is free (although donations are appreciated) and is open to the general bird-loving public. Everyone interested in fostering or adopting a bird from Mickaboo must attend our class on bird care prior to receiving a bird from us. Classes are taught by unpaid volunteers. The class covers these topics:

  • Proper avian care
  • Proper avian diet
  • Symptoms of illness and first aid
  • General husbandry
  • Taming and training
  • And much much more...

Criteria for adopting/fostering a bird from us can be found on our How to Adopt page.  Expedited adoption approval processing is available for this class; see the bottom of this post for details.

We have bird care classes scheduled throughout the Bay Area, in the North Bay, San Francisco/Peninsula, South Bay, East Bay, and Sacramento Areas. For those who cannot attend a class in person, we occasionally schedule phone classes.

Register: To reserve your spot for a class, email with the location of the class, and class date, in the subject line. If you want to adopt a cockatiel (for example), please say so in the email.  Also say if you are interested in expedited adoption approval processing.
