Bird Toon of the Day - January 1, 2016

I wanted to start the New Year with the very first Calvin and Hobbes bird-related toon, but was chagrined to find that I already posted the first two in the course of 2015.  (This is the result of not having been able to properly calculate the original publication dates, which I am now able to do, having located my bound set of The Complete Calvin and Hobbes.)  So here is the third C&H to have a bird theme, from September 13, 1987:
