Quita Memorial Challenge Grant - penultimate update

QuitaOur current total is $24,142, over 80% of our $30,000 end-of-year fundraising goal!  That's about a typical month's worth of vet costs for our flock of 400+ birds.  Regardless of whether your gift was large or small, we THANK YOU for your generosity!  We suspect Quita, the parrotlet in whose memory the matching funds were provided, is also smiling.

Want to jumpstart your New Year with a gift? Here are the ways:

  • by sending a  check or money order to: Mickaboo, P.O. Box 697, San Jose,  CA 95106-0697
  • online, with a credit card through Network for Good
  • online via Mickaboo's website (www.mickaboo.org) - use either of the two "donate" buttons in the left margin

ALL gifts of any size are welcome and are fully tax-deductible (in 2015)!  Monthly giving is also VERY appreciated, as this provides a way for us to plan our cash flow (and avoid emergency funding calls!).

Today's results include final totals for online giving.  We'll add the final results tomorrow for checks received at our PO Box. Stay tuned to this space for our FINAL update - tomorrow!

Quita Memorial Challenge Grant - Dec. 31 evening update

AzulAzul is one of the birds who benefits from Mickaboo's volunteers. Azul is an older Blue Front Amazon in her 30's with cataracts. She acts like any other blue front amazon except she can't see very well. She plays with toys and takes treats from my foster mom very nicely. Azul could be a very sweet gal for the right person- and she's available for adoption!

Want to help Azul and other birds like her before the matching period is up (TONIGHT!)? One may give:

  • online, with a credit card through Network for Good
  • online via Mickaboo's website (www.mickaboo.org) - use either of the two "donate" buttons in the left margin

Eagle, Mildred, Coffee, Mocha, and George are a few of the many birds benefitting from your collective generosity.  They are about 12 years old and have been in an aviary most, if not all, their lives, in the San Jose area. They all appear to be males, are all healthy and and very active .. especially around feeding time.  Their surrender to Mickaboo was caused by a combination of a marital separation and subsequent move - a story we often hear at Mickaboo.

Want to help this flock of cockatiels and other birds like them before the Challenge Grant period is up *tomorrow*? One may give:

  • online, with a credit card through Network for Good
  • online via Mickaboo's website (www.mickaboo.org) - use either of the two "donate" buttons in the left margin

Yippee! Your generosity during this Challenge Grant time (ONLY ONE MORE DAY!) makes your gift go further than usual, helps you when you file your income taxes - and helps Mickaboo build a solid foundation as we head into the new year.

HarryHarry is one of the foster birds who benefits from Mickaboo's services. He is a teenaged (in bird years) male Patagonian Conure with a bit of a mysterious past. Harry's last owner loved him dearly but was not in a situation to keep him any longer. His foster parent is teaching him about toys (he didn't have any before) and the social skills he'll need to thrive in a permanent home.

Want to help Harry and other birds like him before the matching period ends tomorrow? One may give:

  • online, with a credit card through Network for Good

Bishop and TommyOur current total is $12,106, over 40% of our $30,000 end-of-year fundraising goal! Yippee! Our foster birds and the many volunteers who make up Mickaboo appreciate your donating during this Challenge Grant time.  Doing so makes your gift go further - and helps us build a solid foundation as we head into 2015.  Join the fun - there's only TWO more days to get a tax deduction AND help the birds at the same time!

Bishop is one of the many birds benefitting from your collective generosity.  He is about six years old and was surrendered to Mickaboo by a person who had to move to a non-pet-friendly home. He is bonded to Tommy, whom he met in foster care. Tommy was literally rescued when he flew away from his guardian and was attacked by a flock of crows.  Bishop sings and whistles a little bit, and will also call out loudly when Tommy is not nearby. He enjoys playing with palm shredder toys and likes helping Tommy to play and enjoy himself too.

Want to help Bishop, Tommy, and other birds like them before the Challenge Grant period is up *tomorrow*? One may give:

  • online, with a credit card through Network for Good
  • online via Mickaboo's website (www.mickaboo.org) - use either of the two "donate" buttons in the left margin

Quita Memorial Challenge Grant - Dec. 29 evening update

JolieOur current total is $9,811, about one-third of our $30,000 end-of-year fundraising goal! Your generosity during this Challenge Grant time (ONLY TWO MORE DAYS AFTER TODAY!) makes your gift go further than usual, helps you when you file your income taxes - and helps Mickaboo build a solid foundation as we head into the new year.

Jolie is one of the birds who benefits from Mickaboo's volunteers. Jolie is a lovely gray mutation Indian Ringneck girl. She went on an adventure outdoors and got lost. Lucky for her a nice lady found Jolie, saving her from an uncertain fate. Now she is in a nice Mickaboo foster home and living the good life, learning to love a great pellet-based diet and vegetables. Jolie is a really smart and curious girl, eager to learn new things. She also enjoys flying, napping, bathing, and whistling - and she's available for adoption!

Quita Memorial Challenge Grant - Dec. 29 morning update

Our current total is $8,290, slightly over 27% of our $30,000 end-of-year fundraising goal! Donating during this Challenge Grant time makes your gift go further - and helps us build a solid foundation as we head into 2015.

SparkleSparkle is one of the birds benefitting from your collective generosity. She is a very young (we think around 4 MONTHS old) budgie who somehow escaped from her former guardian and, luckily, wound up at a shelter instead of becoming a predator's lunch or dying of starvation.  Most shelters are not equipped to handle avian medical emergencies, and this one was no different - so they called Mickaboo when Sparkle started bleeding from a broken blood feather.  Sparkle is just fine now - and is up for adoption!  (Email coordinator-parakeet@mickaboo.org if you're interested!)

Want to help Sparkle and other birds like her before time is up (only TWO more days after today!)? One may give:

  • online, with a credit card through Network for Good
  • online via Mickaboo's website (www.mickaboo.org) - use either of the two "donate" buttons in the left margin
  • online through PayPal (login to *your* Paypal account, if you have one, and send money to donations "at" mickaboo.org)

Quita Memorial Challenge Grant - Dec. 28 evening update

Frida and RosieOur current total is $6,067, slightly over 20% of our $30,000 end-of-year fundraising goal! Your generosity during this Challenge Grant time makes your gift go further - and helps us build a solid foundation as we head into the new year.

Frida and Rosie are two of the birds who benefit from your collective generosity. They met each other during foster care, and became fast friends. They cuddle a lot and love to play with toys together. When they first met Frida couldn’t fly very well, but Rosie waited for Frida's wings to grow out and then taught Frida just how much fun it is to fly. They love to fly together around their foster parent's home, going back and forth and showing off their flying abilities. (Yes, they're up for adoption!)

Want to help Frida, Rosie and other birds like them before time is up (only 3 more days after today!)? One may give:

  • online, with a credit card or check, through Network for Good

Gizzy is one of the birds who may benefit from your collective generosity. He is a playful white-bellied caique whose nonstop energy and varied vocalizations fascinate everyone who meets him. The picture at right shows his athleticism - his right foot Gizzy playingis holding a toy he's just dislodged from the top of his cage while he's hanging from his left foot, AND he's chewing away on the toy itself!

Pistachio is one of the birds you have helped. He is a wonderful, tame green cheek conure whose upper beak was torn off by another bird, and whose injury caused him to be surrendered to Mickaboo.  He's thriving in foster care, thanks to the medical attention YOUR support helped give him.
